Media City, Manchester, Bowmer & Kirkland   “Whilst working with OBR on our first scheme together at Plot E2, Media City I have been impressed from a commercial perspective throughout the procurement, construction and post contract stages of the scheme and would not hesitate to continue our relationship onto new schemes”.   David White, Project Quantity Surveyor Bowmer & Kirkland

OBR Construction carried out the reinforcement, formwork, concrete and installation of turbine cans at the above mentioned project. In total we had 18 number turbine bases each with 400m3 of concrete and 50 tonne of reinforcement. All works were carried out to a high standard. We found OBR to be a very progressive company with their approach to work; they possessed a large commitment to delivering the project safely, on time and on budget.

All OBR works were carried out safely and within the timeframe allocated. We have no hesitation in putting them forward for further work and I am contactable if required.

John Sisk and Son Ltd

Runcorn Thermal Power Station

2nd March 2012

OBR have been working on the Runcorn Thermal Power Station as direct Reinforced Concrete works subcontractor to John Sisk & Son Ltd since August 2010. The contract value for OBR was in the order of £10 million over two phases, on which OBR provided the concrete and plant for their works. Phase 1 which is approximately £7.5m is substantially complete and Phase 2 is currently 50% complete and will be completed later this year.

The scope of works included complex substructure and superstructure elements including the Waste Bunker which is approximately 80m long, 20m wide and with certain walls approaching 50m in height. The execution of works involved significant temporary works design which OBR managed diligently.

To date OBR have delivered on Safety, Quality and Schedule on what we would regard as a very challenging project from a technical nature. The personal commitment of their Senior Management was a significant factor in their overall success. One significant factor in selecting OBR for a major scheme like Runcorn TPS was their capacity to deliver. OBR have executed projects for Sisk since 2000 and I have had personal experience on a number of projects dating back to that time.

I would consider OBR for any Reinforced Concrete Works in the future and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

The value of their works is in excess of £10 million; OBR carried out the construction of all RC elements, including supply of material, management, engineering etc. OBR commenced works on site in July 10; the project was extremely intense up until December 11 with numerous complex facets of work being undertaken at the same time; we are now at a stage where the vast majority of works are completed, albeit OBR will continue to have a presence until year end.

We can give assurance that the quality, safety and responsiveness of the OBR team throughout this project has been much appreciated by ourselves and we have no hesitation in giving a reference. The works are there to be viewed and I am contactable on the number below should you wish to discuss further.

We write regarding OBR Construction of the above address and to give reference for the work that they have carried out on our contract at Belle Greve Pumping Station in Guernsey. From the outset of the project they have been professional in all aspects of the work. They have shown a sound understanding of our requirements and have delivered the project to budget and ahead of programme.

We have been particularly impressed with their site organisation as well as their senior management who work in a non-confrontational manner. Their workmanship with regard to installation of reinforcement, formwork and concrete placement has been to a high standard which leads to confidence in the final product. OBOR have also performed well during both internal and Client based Safety Audits and have helped to maintain our excellent safety record in Guernsey.

Eli Lilly, Kinsale

13th February, 2013

DOB Construction have recently completed a substantial structural concrete contract for the new build of IE43 at Eli Lilly, Kinsale, Cork. Part of this project consisted of the temporary works design, and construction of a 9.0m high retaining wall structure wrapping the Process Building, (215.0m long).

This was a high risk activity, and due to the diligence and can do approach shown by DOB Construction, was achieved working to strict safety protocols, within a tight timescale, and was to a fair faced finish which exceeded the Client’s expectations.

As an early phase trade, DOB Construction have been instrumental in helping to set the standard required on this project for other contractors to follow, and we thank them for the dedication they have shown.

FRC and Pavement works to the Southampton Berths

21st March, 2014

Volker Stevin have engaged with OBR Construction on a Subcontract basis who contributed to the successful delivery of the FRC and pavement works to the Southampton Berths 201 & 202 Reconstruction project June 2013 to February 2014.

The key site management players of Stephen Connolly and Owen Sheehy were proactive and very much hands on in their approach. A shared commitment and collaborative approach to achieving contractual targets was established. This provided an effective layer of management support to our Project Team. This was achieved by maintaining regular dialogue to ensure the resourcing requirements where identified in a timely manner and implemented to meet the programme and the programme challenges encountered. The broad pool of skilled operatives from which to draw on was an invaluable asset in this regard and I would recommend OBR Construction for future projects with works of a similar nature.
